Oceanarium

Come and meet some of the many marine animals that live in Algoa Bay. The Bayworld Oceanarium is home to several species of fish, turtles, fur seals, cape gannets, and South Africa’s second largest captive population of African Penguins.

NOTE:

Bayworld is currently experiencing technical difficulties with seawater pumps and filtration systems. While the quality of the water remains good and suitable for our animals, the water is discolored in the Seal, Show and Penguin pools. This is due to the growth of microscopic algae, which are non-toxic but color the water brown. This problem is exacerbated by the longer days and warmer temperatures of summer.

Our staff, aided by industry experts, are working to solve the problem. Since the welfare of our animals is our priority, and this issue requires our full attention, the Oceanarium will be closed to the public until the matter has been resolved.
