Volunteer Programme
The achievement of the mission and vision of Bayworld is best served by the active participation of citizens of the community. To this end, Bayworld accepts and encourages the involvement of volunteers at all levels in the organisation and within all appropriate programmes and activities.
The Volunteer Programme brings significant benefit to:
- our volunteer members by providing them with an opportunity for direct involvement in the day to day running of Bayworld.
- Bayworld by bringing specialist advice and skills into Bayworld and through the provision of additional human resources.
- the wider community by providing an avenue for community participation in specific campaigns or Bayworld as a whole.
The contribution of volunteers remains vital to Bayworld's operation. Bayworld recognises and values the reciprocal nature of the relationship between itself and individual volunteers and is committed to providing a volunteer programme which both supports Bayworld's work and meets the expectations and needs of individual volunteers.
Purpose of the Volunteer Programme
- to recruit and maintain a committed group of volunteers who assist the work of Bayworld.
- to attempt to provide volunteers with the level of responsibility and involvement that meets their expectations.
- to help Bayworld achieve its goals .
- to give the best possible care and attention to the animals and exhibits in our facility.
- to inform, educate and lead the public by good example.
- to increase public awareness through human interaction with living creatures and ideas.
- to promote responsible management and conservation of the Nelson Mandela Bay area and our environment and resources.
